Example Recipes: Fruit Cobbler Dixie Welborn 1 cube (1/2C) butter or margarine 4 C fresh berries or peaches 1/2 C water 1 2/3 to 2 C sugar, divided (depending sweetness of fruit). 1 C flour 2 tsp. baking powder 3/4 C milk cinnamon Put butter in 9x13 baking dish and place in oven to melt butter, mean while prepare fruit. Pour into 2qt. saucepan, add 1/2 C water and 2/3 to 1 C sugar, depending upon taste and the sweetness of the fruit. Bring just to boil, stirring once or twice Remove from heat. Mix 1 C sugar, flour, baking powder, and milk. This will be a thin batter. Pour batter over melted butter. Pour fruit over batter and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake in 400' oven for 40-45 minutes. Makes 9 to 12 servings. East Coast Tarter Sauce Trish Hill 1/2 C mayonnaise 1 tsp. minced onion 5 drops Tabasco 1/4 C sweet pickle relish, drained 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp. lemon juice Combine all ingredients, mixing well. Chill at least 1/2 hour before using. Makes 3/4 C tarter sauce. These are just two of hundreds of recipes |
