The Baker Museum of Art

The Baker Museum of Art is an art museum in Naples, Florida. It is located at the Philharmonic Center for the Arts and was one of the first museums in Naples.

The museum was originally founded as a gift from philanthropist William V. Baker. He donated $1 million to create a museum for the citizens of Naples, and he also donated significant works from his personal collection to start it off. The first exhibit opened on November 1, 1990, with 33 paintings and sculptures on loan from Mr. Baker's private collection.[1]

In addition to its permanent collection, which features artworks by Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Henry Moore, and Willem de Kooning among others,[2][3][4] The Baker Museum has hosted a series of traveling exhibits that have included Buddha: Radiant Awakening (featuring more than 100 images of Buddha dating back to 700 AD),[5] Frederic Church's Olana Landscapes,[6][7] and Marc Chagall: An Artist's Journey Through War And Peace.[8][9]

As recently as 2018, the museum played host to an event called "Sculpture for Earth Day" that featured 16 sculptures made entirely out of recycled materials.[10]
